LONG TOURS
“Llama”, “llana” or “lama” are the names that the flat places of Carranza receive.
This route across the Ordunte mountains departs from La Buitrera, a vulture feeder maintained by the Council during the year. We begin to walk in the shade of the beeches, immediately going into the cliff that the river of Pozonegro shapes. We will cross the river, penetrating another beechwood and facing the ascent to the Zalama (1,336 m.), which is the highest point of the region of Encartaciones. Here we will see an unique peat bog. If the weather conditions help, we will be able to see the beautiful view of the point where the provinces of Biscay, Burgos and Cantabria merge.
We will come back to the starting point walking through the Llana de Salduero, a grazing area for cattle used over the years by the farmers. We will have a perfect perspective of the mountain chain of Ordunte and Valle de Carranza.

2 - INCE
“Ince” is the name for the fruit of the holm oak.
Located at the foot of the mount Armañon, there is the holm-oak wood of Sopeña. This is a rare wood of our latitudes, shaped by the cuttle. This holm-oak wood is unique in the Cantabrian ledge and it is one of the most beautiful places of the Natural Park of Armañon.We will border the wood, showing our faces from the limestone-rock formation that shields us from the North, where we will enjoy a splendid view of the Valley.
Once we are into the holm-oak wood, we will find ourselves submerged in a world of holm-oaks and rocks covered by moss.
This route can be made during the whole year if we do not mind the mud. Even though it is a long route, it is not much exigent.

3 - BRENA
“Brena” is the the traditional name used in Carranza to refer to the grass that the cuttle eat.
It is a long route through the typical places of the mountains of Ordunte: the moors and the beech woods. We will start ascending through cypresses, pines and firs, changing immediately to the autochthonous beechwood. We will reach the Plain of Salduero, place of botanists and shepherds where moors and bogs predominate. We will take a break in the crest which divides the valleys of Carranza and Mena, where we will have a very good perspective of the surroundings.
Once we reach the lowest part of the range, we will penetrate into a beechwood which in summer is covered by blueberries. After visiting some shepherd's houses and a natural overlook, we will return to the starting point passing through some small waterfalls.
